Comet Elenin Forecast for 9/2011 to 1/2012 and the Hopi Blue Star Kachina

Is Comet Elenin the feared Blue Star Kachina of Hopi Prophecy, Planet X, a dwarf sun or an alien mother ship? To date, approximately 1.5 million web pages are devoted to these concerns, and many with fearsome interest. But is this fear in any way justified? Perhaps so. The forecast presented in this program is the result of hundreds of man hours of research by the Planet X Town Hall, Comet Elenin Research Team. Why is it sometimes the weatherman’s forecast is way off?

Question by Sticky: Why is it sometimes the weatherman’s forecast is way off?
The weather man said yesterday there would be a rainstorm tomorrow. Well, it is now today and guess what? It’s friggin’ sunny and cher, and this morning, their forecast casually changed from cloudy to clear skies. Both the local news weather man and The Weather Channel got it wrong. I like to think that as an advanced species with advanced technology that our meteorologists could figure out correctly what the weather will be like in a few hours.

It’s because weather and climate are chaotic systems and we don’t have a full understanding of how all the individual components interact.

Remember this when you hear people like Al Gore fear-mongering about global warming and predicting weather patterns 50 years from now.

which weather forecast is the most accurate?

Question by : which weather forecast is the most accurate?
I live in san francisco and I get different weather forecasts from several sources(TV news, The Weather Channel, newspapers, internet). One forecast might say it’s gonna hit 67 degrees while another with say 61 degrees. I never know what the actual weather is gonna be. I often leave my apt with a short-sleeve shirt, only to be wishing I had brought a coat. Are these weather people just guessing?

Best answer:

Answer by
The closest you are going to get to an official and accurate source will be the National Weather Service http://www.weather.gov

Most places get their weather data and information from the NWS but quite often, they use their own data and software to help create a forecast.

Weather forecasting will never be 100% accurate but short-term forecasts (1 to 3 days) are fairly accurate.

Washington Park, Albany NY
News Forecast

On February 1 and 2, two successive storms hit the Albany area, dropping a significant amount of snow on top of what had already fallen in January. Forecasts called for up to two feet, most coming from the massive second system that crippled many areas as it made its way across the Midwest toward the coast. Actual total snowfall from both storms was "only" 10-18", and Albany proper was able to handle the weather with ease. Local cable news station YNN helped dub the storm "The Groundhogger" which I appropriated as a tag, so you can see a few more photos.

Q&A: What is the name of the maps in the weather forecast?

Question by catz101: What is the name of the maps in the weather forecast?
I like the type of maps news stations use for weather forecasts. I want to view one that is in color ( with all mountains and buildings). I would like to view a map like this but without the weather symbols. I’ve noticed that this type of map is seen when they zoom in instead of when just seeing it from the top.
