why do news programs have separate people to read the weather?

Question by worldpeace: why do news programs have separate people to read the weather?
most of the time they’re not actually real meteorologists.
they don’t have some specialist sitting there doing science and then reporting on it.
weather people are just pretty faces who are paid to get up for a few minutes each broadcast and read a script. the actual forecast all comes from computers and the services from major meteorological centers.
why dont they save money and just have the anchor read the weather? who needs a separate weather person? it seems a horrible waste of resources.

If they would have only one person, the rating would probably get down. It gets boring sometimes.

On my phone I automatically have the temperature, but my sister had an application where your phone’s background was of the live weather (sunny,cloudy, etc). She doesn’t have the Lg Ally anymore, so she forgot where she downloaded the live weather from. Any one have any sites where I can get this download? Thanks so much

I’m planning a second trip to Japan soon- I’ve only been there before in November, and so I’m curious what the weather’s like throughout the rest of the year, month for month? I know roughly what it’s like in each season, but what should I be expecting in each different month?
Month to month info would be great, thanks! I already know what it’s like generally in the seasons (: My travel will be mainly between Kyoto and Nara, but around parts of the rest of the south of Japan too.

Each one of the four seasons is quite different from others in Japan. In addition, Northern part and Southern part are also different in even the same seson there.

Winter is dry,cold and Summer is humid,hot in Tokyo for example overall so that you need to prepare some certain attire in advance.

Like if you were to go online or watch the news about the weather for right now in Palm Bay for instance it would probably say 84 degrees with another number 64 degrees next to it. I could be wrong but I think it means that it is 84 degrees and will go down to 64, or 84 degrees is for the day and 64 degrees is for the night.

I didnt go to work today because the news said it is snowing hard. it didnt snow till 4PM here and i could’ve gone to work and earned my money. this is annoying, how can they possibly get the weather forecast wrong? can i sue the meteorologists? if this was a weather prediction for the next couple days i understand they cant be 100% right but to give a forecast for the next 2 hours, how can they get it wrong?

Um, no. And lighten up. Weather is never 100% predictable – especially here with two different mountain ranges that make a huge impact on the weather. And nobody told you you HAD to stay home – it wasn’t mandatory like a hurricane evacuation.

They never said it IS snowing hard they said that snow was FORECASTED. And it did fall in many areas. Up here in Everett we got about 5″ of snow but it also didn’t start here till about 3PM.

Since you didn’t see it snowing all afternoon why didn’t you just go into work?
